GETTING HERE
RAIL CONNECTIONS
Freiburg is on the Frankfurt – Karlsruhe – Freiburg – Basel ICE/IC line. From the main train station in Freiburg, you can reach the Historisches Kaufhaus by taking tram line 1 in the direction of Littenweiler to "Bertoldsbrunnen". From here it is only a short walk to Münsterplatz.

Long-distance bus connections
There are numerous long-distance coach services connecting Freiburg with many German cities. The bus station located at Freiburg's main train station provides a direct connection to the inner-city tram lines towards the old town or you can enjoy a 10-minute walk through the city centre to the Historisches Kaufhaus on Münsterplatz.
Public transport
Take lines 1, 2, 3 and 5 to "Bertoldsbrunnen", from here it is only a few minutes' walk to Münsterplatz, home of the Historisches Kaufhaus.
The congress ticket (congress ticket = public transport ticket) entitles the holder to use the public transport system free of charge. This initiative is valid in the Regio-Verkehrsverbund Freiburg (RVF), in which 20 transport companies operating in the city and region have joined forces.

By car
From the north and the south via the Rheintal motorway A5 Frankfurt-Basel, take the Freiburg-Mitte exit. From the exit slip road Freiburg-Mitte, the Historisches Kaufhaus is around 10 minutes away, direction Altstadt.
From the east via the A81 Stuttgart-Singen and the B31 Donaueschingen, Titisee-Neustadt. For Schwarzwaldstrasse, follow in the direction of Freiburg-Altstadt.
By bike
400 m from the Historisches Kaufhaus, the Freiburg bike-sharing system "Frelo" maintains a Frelo station at Karlsplatz. Renting and returning bikes is possible at this location.
BY PLANE
BASEL-MULHOUSE-FREIBURG AIRPORT (EUROAIRPORT)
It is possible to get to Freiburg from several airports: Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg airport (EuroAirport) is the closest airport at one hour’s drive away. It offers international scheduled and charter flights and can be reached from Freiburg via the Airport Bus and by bus and train with changes in Basel. By car, the airport can be reached via the A5 motorway in the direction of Basel, then at the Neuenburg interchange head towards Ottmarsheim/Mulhouse on the A35, or just before the Basel toll station, head towards Palmrheinbücke, Huningue and St. Louis.
FREIBURG AIRPORT
Located next to the Messe Freiburg events area and just 1.5 km (approx. 1 mile) from the city centre, Freiburg Airport (a customs airport) is a popular and direct flight connection for business travellers, traders and private pilots coming to the Messe Freiburg or the event-filled centre of Freiburg. The airport is authorised for aircraft up to 10,000 tonnes. The city centre can be reached by tram line 4, bus or taxi.
STRASBOURG AIRPORT (AÉROPORT INTERNATIONAL DE STRASBOURG)
Strasbourg Airport is located around 80 km (approx. 50 miles) from Freiburg, just south of Strasbourg (in Entzheim). You can get to Strasbourg using public transport (via Offenburg and Kehl); then there are many options for getting to the airport such as the bus, tram or regional trains. By car, you can reach the airport on the A5 motorway and national roads in France.
KARLSRUHE/BADEN-BADEN AIRPORT (FKB)
The airport is around 100 km (approx. 60 miles) north of Freiburg between Baden-Baden and Karlsruhe. You can reach the airport by rail on the Rheintal line with a connecting bus. There are also shuttle bus connections directly from Freiburg bus station. The airport can also be reached by car on the A5 (Baden-Baden exit).
ZURICH AIRPORT
Zurich Airport is around 150 km (approx. 95 miles) from Freiburg and there are very good direct ICE connections between the Zurich and Freiburg main railway stations. There are public transport connections between the Zurich main train station and Zurich airport.
STUTTGART AIRPORT
The airport is around 200 km (approx. 125 miles) from Freiburg and easily accessible by rail from the Freiburg main train station via Karlsruhe to Stuttgart, then from there to the airport by S-Bahn (city rail).
FRANKFURT AIRPORT
The airport is around 270 km (approx. 170 miles) from Freiburg, but because of the excellent direct rail connections, the international hub is still a good connection. You can reach the long-distance railway station at Frankfurt Airport in around two hours from the Freiburg main train station. From there, you have direct access to the terminal.
PARKING - PARKING SPACES
The Historisches Kaufhaus is situated in the pedestrian area of the city centre, and there is no parking at the building. There are options for parking in the car parks nearby. The Schlossberg car park is just a few minutes’ walk from the Historisches Kaufhaus.
