2020 AWARDS CEREMONY FOR THE ‘JUGENDPREIS GOTTFRIED FUCHS’ IN A DIGNIFIED SETTING

For humanity and tolerance – against racism and antisemitism: through the Jugendpreis Gottfried Fuchs, three football associations in Baden-Württemberg are reminding people of the discrimination and persecution of players, coaches, referees, officials and club members who were cast out of society and the football family after the Nazis took power. The award is named after top Jewish footballer and German national team player Gottfried Fuchs. It is given to clubs, divisions and individual teams in the youth sector of the associations that are especially committed to humanity, tolerance and opposing discrimination. In 2020, the awards ceremony was held at the Historisches Kaufhaus in Freiburg for the first time.

A CELEBRATORY MOOD THROUGHOUT THE BUILDING

The half-day awards ceremony with 40 guests took place in September 2020. Even the effortlessly implemented coronavirus precautions couldn’t detract from the celebratory atmosphere and the joy of the award winners. The official speeches were held in the magnificent Kaisersaal, where prize money totalling EUR 10,500 was awarded to the winners. Catering was provided in the Rokokosaal and Kaminsaal.
